Gathering Your Provisions: Resources for the Inner Journey

Before any significant journey, the wise traveler gathers provisions. Not just physical supplies, but the internal resources needed to sustain the passage through unknown territory.

In the journey of self-discovery, our provisions take many forms. They include our strengths — the qualities we have developed through facing life's challenges. They include our relationships — the people who support us, believe in us, and remind us of who we are when we forget.

But perhaps most importantly, our provisions include the practices that restore and center us. Regular meditation. Time in nature. Creative expression. Physical movement. These are not luxuries but necessities for the inner journey.

We must also gather wisdom — from books, from teachers, from our own accumulated experience. This wisdom serves as a map of sorts, showing us that others have walked this path before and emerged transformed.

The gathering phase asks us to honestly assess: What do I have? What do I need? What supports my growth, and what depletes me? This inventory is itself a form of self-knowledge.
